Adam Berg has directed the latest stunning ad for Saab. Each beautifully shot scene depicts an individual displaying super-human powers. The striking commercial was produced by Stefan Falk of Camp David for Lowe, Brindfors in Stockholm. 2D Post and 3D animation work was carried out by MPC. The ad is a montage of scenes illustrating the phenomenal engine power of the new Saab Turbo. We see a swimming race, won by someone propelling himself at top speed, a little girl shaking a forest pine tree to rescue her toy aeroplane, a man, his boat trapped by ice, summoning the strength to release himself by smashing the thick ice with his fist. MPC’s VFX Supervisor, Franck Lambertz, created the 2D tree ‘wobble’ in Flame,. Mist was composited into the woodland scenes and the wide landscape end shots to create a realistic atmosphere. Extensive work was carried out on the ‘ice shot’ with Franck tracking the close up 3D ice in Boujou. He also combined two different takes of cracked ice to extend the shot length. Matte paintings of smaller cracks were generated and composited into the shot to demonstrate how real ice cracks fork from one another under pressure. The breaking ice was composited over footage of moving water and falling ice and snow were also composited into the water. There was also some 2D rig removal. General finessing work was carried out in Telecine, to heighten the reflections and details on the car’s lights and radiator. Also, second passes were added to the skies to bring more blue into the overall picture within Flame. |
